Getting started
Do I need my own server?
Yes. The app is the remote and the speaker for an rRadio server that runs at home. The server is free and open source; see Set up the server. If someone in your family already runs one, ask them for a pairing code.
How do I pair my phone?
Open the server's web interface, go to Admin, then Devices, and add a phone. Scan the QR code with the phone's camera, or type the server address and pairing code into the app's first screen.
Does it work away from home?
Yes, if your server can be reached from outside, for example through a VPN or a reverse proxy with HTTPS. In the app you can set one address for home and one for away; it picks the right one by your Wi-Fi name.
Listening
The radio stops when the phone is locked.
Check that Low Power Mode isn't limiting background audio, and that the server is still reachable. On Android, allow rRadio to run in the background in the battery settings.
Nothing plays, or the stream keeps reconnecting.
Open Admin in the app or the web interface and look at Streams and health. A missing stream usually means the server's audio engine needs a restart. On mobile data, Data saver plays a lighter stream.
Can I listen offline?
Yes. Save an episode or clip, and it downloads to your phone. You can listen to it without a connection.
Your data
What do you know about me?
Nothing. The app only talks to your own server. See the privacy policy.
